Stormgate Wiki

Carl Barclay, codenamed Blockade, is a Vanguard hero in Stormgate.

Barclay has an imposing figure and is loyal to a fault.[1]

Biography[]

Sigma Program[]

In the early 22nd century, Major Carl Barclay was assigned to Sigma 6's security force, overseeing operations in the Amazon. The security force had been assembled at the request of Dr. Clive Cullin. As with the rest of the team, Barclay was highly vetted. He reported to Julian Nassar, whom he greeted when he arrived at the Amazon site, along with his wife, Lilia and daughter, Amara.[1]

Years after the Amazon dig, Barclay was assigned to Sigma Polar along with the Nassars and Cullin. Barclay often had to track down Amara, as she often sequestered herself in some forbidden wing of the facility. Project Stormgate was initiated, but was sabotaged by Lilia for reasons unknown, at the cost of her life. In the wake of Lilla's sabotage, the security forces at Sigma 6 began calling one another under callsigns devised by Julian. In Barclay's case, he was given the callsign "Blockade."[1]

Three years after Lilia's sabotage, Project Stormgate Mk. II was activated. Cullin, who'd long been a servant of the Infernal Host, ordered Barclay to head topside to check on the capacitors in order to remove Barclay from the interior of the facility lest her interfere with his plans. Ever the good soldier, Barclay departed without question. The stormgate was later opened, unleashing the Host on Earth.[1]

Vanguard[]

Barclay survived the Infernal invasion of Sigma Polar, and fought the invading aliens from the outset. At some point after the initial invasion, he joined the Vanguard. Still operating under his original callsign,[2] he became the head of the Warhawks dagger team. He trained Amara Nassar.[3]

Ashes of Earth[]

"Make no mistake...this is not our old Earth. We are headed to war. In an effort to liberate our world...free our people...and reclaim our home."
