Luminite is the primary resource in Stormgate, appearing as a golden mound.
Game Effect[]
For the Infernal Host and Vanguard, luminite is mined by workers. Up to 12 workers can mine a single luminite mound.[1] While luminite appears as a single mound, each mound is divided into four nodes, and each subsequent worker on the mound results in diminishing returns. For instance, one worker might return 100 luminite per minute, the second might return 95, the third 90, and so on. Ergo, two workers at two different mounds will have a higher rate of return than two workers at the same mound.[2]
Instead of using workers, the Celestial Armada uses a collection array to harvest luminite.[3]
Notes[]
Luminite operates similarly to minerals in StarCraft. The decision to have a rate of diminishing returns was made in order to encourage players to expand from their core base.[4] Its Warcraft equivalent is the gold mine. It was chosen as a single mound as the developers wanted the game's factions to harvest it in different ways. The comparison in Warcraft for instance is how the Scourge faction would haunt a gold mine in order to harvest, while the Alliance and Horde factions sent in workers.[2]
