The following is a timeline of the Stormgate universe. It has been placed together using both relative and absolute dates.
5500 BCE[]
- The Ubaid period of Mesopotamia begins.[1]
4900 BCE[]
- At around this time, the Infernal Host arrive on Earth. A conflict erupts between them and the Celestial Armada. By the conflict's end, the Infernals have been defeated, and sealed from Earth through the Suppressor.[2] In the aftermath of the conflict, the sight of these alien forces influences the cultural development of humanity.[1]
3700 BCE[]
- The Ubaid period in Mesopotamia ends.[1]
14th century BCE[]
- A cult flourishes in Ancient Egypt, apparently influenced by the "Star of Death"; an Infernal weapon left over from the First Invasion.[3]
2040[]
- As Earth's biosphere continues to deteriorate due to human activities, the Sigma Program is established to stave off the Brink.[2]
2060s[]
- Clive Cullin is born in this decade.[2]
2070[]
- The Sigma Program continues to operate, but the Brink has at best been delayed. Earth's biosphere continues to deteriorate.[2]
2097[]
- Q3: Clive Cullin and Marilyn Sumner meet. The pair begin a relationship.[2]
2100/'01[]
- Cullin, Sumner, and Julian Nassar begin working for the Sigma Program.[2]
Unspecified[]
The following events occur in the 2100s, but cannot be specified exactly:
- Sumner and Cullin marry at Sigma Central.[2]
- Cullin becomes head of Sigma 3. Two years of work culminates in the "Reed Incident."[2]
- One last test is allowed on Nassar, but the test is a failure, and Cullin is removed from his position in Sigma 3.[2]
- Months after losing his position in Sigma 3, Preston Swift makes Cullin head of the new Sigma 6 program. Sumner is infected with a polar virus, her condition terminal.[2]
- Amara Nassar is born.[2]
- Over the following year, Sigma 6 excavates three different sites, each of them containing evidence of the Infernal Host. A dig in the Amazon lasts six months, until they are forced to exit by the Allied States of the Southern Hemisphere.[2]
- Sigma 4 uncovers the Suppressor beneath the Arctic ice. Two years after excavations began, Sigma Polar is constructed.[2]
- Under the thrall of the Whisperer, Cullin directs experiments with the Suppressor at Sigma Polar, under the pretense of using it to open a portal to a new world. All experiments fail until Cullin proposes using the energy of a coronal mass ejection. Project Stormgate is initiated.[2]
- After six months, Project Stormgate is initiated. Under the influence of an unknown party, Lila sabotages the experiment at the cost of her own life.[2]
Note: By this point, approx. ten years have passed since the Amazon dig, placing these events in the early 2110s.
- Three years after Lila's sabotage, the Exodus Armada launches from Earth.[2]
- One week after the armada's launch, Project Stormgate Mk. II is initiated to capture the energy of a similar CME. A stormgate is opened, unleashing the Infernal Host on Earth.[2]
- The Infernal invasion of Earth is blunted by humanity,[4] but at terrible cost, with entire regions left decimated by nuclear and/or chemical weapons.[5]
Note: The following events mark the beginning of Stormgate, placing them at some point in the 2130s.
- Twenty years after the initial Infernal invasion,[6] Earth remains a battlefield between the Host and humanity.[7]
Notes[]
In a post on X, it is hinted that humanity (or at least the Vanguard) started to use a new dating system after the Infernal invasion, with the term "Y20" referring to the current year (presumably referring to 20 years after the Infernal invasion).[1]
